Term 2 Week 10 Reflection--Jun Jie

During our post exam activity, we were briefed on what was going to happen after the school holidays. We were told to post a photo of our product, our report, photo of our group, our presentation, and our video on the blog for the final post. I have assigned Jun Rong to assign us on what to do for the report while I work on our product.

Term 2 week8 reflection- Jun Rong

This week is our examination period, we cannot discuss much about our products. We will be gathering facts on who to do what for the 2000-3000 words about the explanation of our products next week.

Term 2 Week 9 Reflection--Jun Jie

In this week, we were told to make a presentation for our ipw project. I have assigned Isaac to create the skeleton of the presentation, send it to me for editing before we finally post it on the blog

Term 2 Week 8 Reflection--Jun Jie

Like the previous week, this week is also our examination period, therefore we were not able to meet up. I will be discussing with the other group members on how to find a suitable fish tank, as this is our only missing item.

Term 2 Week 7 Reflection--Jun Jie

As this week is the examination week, we are not able to make any progress at all. I also have not been able to find a suitable fish tank, but i did found the blades of an old fan

Term 2 Week 6 Reflection--Jun Jie

In this week, I have allocated the various task for each member to do, such as the gathering of all our research and the making of our presentation. I will be making the model once I managed to find the suitable fish tank and fan.

Term 2 week 4 reflection- jun rong

My group leader had told us to gather all the materials for the boat, I am suppose to fiind for u-shape,bar-magnet and light bulb. I spent quite along time at some shops but cant find it I will continue to find those products. After gathering those products we will then try to build the boat.

Saturday, April 24, 2010

Term 2 Week 5 Reflection--Jun Jie

In this week, we have not completely collected all the materials. We have thus discussed the various places which we can buy the materials, such as Sim Lim Tower and other electronics shopping malls. The 2 items that would be of difficulty to find is the Tank and the Blades of the fam

Term 2 Week 4 Reflection--Jun Jie

In this week, I listed down the things that we needed to collect to build the model to show the concept of hydroelectricity. The materials are as such:

1) 4 bar magnets/a big cube magnet
2) 1 large U-Shaped magnet
3) 1 electrical light bulb or a LED Light
4) Wires
5) Blades of the fan
6) Big Plastic fish tank
7) 30cm Metal Rod

We will gather the materials by 30th April, and I will create the product on Labour Day. Isaac is left in charge to create the powerpoint of our presentation

Term 2 Week 3 Reflection--Jun Jie

In this week, we managed to collate the data of the survey. As there is an equal percentage (50-50) in the question "Do you think boats are useful?", we decided to just make a model that shows the concept of hydroelectricity.
The model will be based on what happens in a dam, like the different parts and processes. We are currently looking around the web, looking at how others make their miniature models of the dam and models that shows the concept of hydroelectricity

Term 2 Week 3 reflection-Jun Rong

Some ideas for the hydro-electric boat. In order to make the boat as fast as possible We got to use a modified 48 volt brushed motor from a forklift used to power the hydraulics, rated at about 15hp such as lithium polymer batteries. we also got to use the set of turbines blades and motors. Waterproof materials are needed

Water turbines generate very reliable power with a very simple design. Some kind of "runner" or is attached to a propeller shaft that operates an alternator to generate power when water turns the runner. There are quite a few types of turbines, but they fall into three major styles: impulse turbines, reaction turbines and submersible propeller turbines. Each is ideally suited for a different type of water supply. No matter what source of running water you have on your property, if it supplies a year-round flow of water, there is most likely a water turbine well-suited to provide electricity for you.

Customising water output is also important during the use of the hydro-electric boat. Some ideas are

Water turbines come in a range of output voltages, to match the overall voltage of your electrical system. While 12 volt is common for small to mid-sized systems, large systems can be designed in 24 or 48 volt configurations. For marine use, most boats will have a 12 volt system.

For impulse-style turbine systems, power output can be increased in high-flow sites by using multiple nozzles on the runner enclosure and/or using a larger diameter runner. Many reaction style turbine models also come with the option for two or more runner diameters, with the larger option providing more power for higher flow sites.

In sites with sufficient water flow volume, multiple turbines of any style, or a mix of different styles in some cases, can be assembled into a single high-output system.

thats all I've researched

Term 2 week2 reflection-Jun Rong

In this week we are still processing on how to send the surveys to our friends . Now we have 55 people done our survey. Currently our group leader Ong Jun Jie is combining all the reflection to form a chart and graph on what people think about hydro-electric boat

Term 2 Week 2 Reflection--Jun Jie

In this week, we managed to get enough data for our survey. I am currently compiling all the datas and organizing them into charts. The data will be soon posted on the blog.

Term 2 Week 1 Reflection--Jun Jie

As our IPW lesson fell on E-Learning Day 1, we did not manage to discuss anything. We also did not manage to meet up due to the assignments that were given today

week 8 reflection--yonghwa

This week, we asked all our friends to do our survey through social networking websites such as Facebook, MSN etc. I've gotten 8 people to do it so far.

Week 8 reflection-Jun Rong

This week we publish our survey to all social network websites such as facebook, my space for friends to do. Each of us are required to get at least 10 people to complete the survey so we hope that we can get 40 people by this week.

Week 8 Reflection- Isaac

This week, we publicize our survey by posting the link in websites such as facebook and emailing the URL to our friends. Each of us are required to get 10 people to do the survey. So we hope to get 40 sets of data by this week
